What is an Inter Library Loan      
According to the directionary, an item not available in Glasgow University Library, which is needed for research or study.
 
What type of material is available      
Conference papers and proceedings British doctoral dissertations and some master's theses North American doctoral dissertations and some master's theses
 
What Services do we use to obtain material      
We transmit requests to BLDS electronically using Automated Request Transmission by Telecommunications (ARTTEL) which enables us to offer a speedy delivery.
 
Who can use the service      
It depends on different considerations. Generally speaking, glasgow University staff and students as well as all subscribing members (charges apply) of Glasgow University Library. However, sometimes it sees the situation.
 
How much does it cost      
It is also possible to have charges made to departmental or research accounts. In this case you should complete the form Registration for Direct Debit of Inter Library Loan Transactions
 
How long does it take      
We also use BLDS World Wide Searches section for material not available in the UK and not traced in SHARES. They ask that 6 months be allowed for supply time.
 
How long can I keep the item      
Journal articles are usually supplied as photocopies for retention. According to the general situdation, the loan period is stipulated by the lending library. In most cases it will be four weeks or more, unless the item is in heavy demand.
 
Can I renew a loan      
It should depends on the postion you are in. It may be possible to renew a loan - please enquire at the Document Delivery Service. There is a charge for renewing a loan which must be paid at the time of making the renewal request.
 
How do I apply      
Users requesting journal articles or conference papers must accept the Copyright Declaration stating, in addition to other clauses, that they will use the copy only for research for a non-commercial purpose or private study, and they will not supply a copy to any other person.
 
How do I register for the Online Document Requesting Service      
Complete the Registration Form and once your registration has been validated you can Submit Requests Online.Any student or staff member can register to submit ILL requests online.
